Thank you for you help. I would also like to know when you can cut your oleander bushes back. Mine are in bloom but are just too tall.

Since I was little I have loved flowers and all sorts of plants. Now that I find myself with more time on my hands I want to start my own garden. But I have no idea where to start...any suggestions? I would appreciate everyone of them. thank you. G…

Soil is where you start. You want to be sure to prepare the soil appropriate to what you are planting. West Texas dirt is alkaline... at least in my part of Midland. There are all kinds of amendments for soils so that's not a problem.

Do you want to plant in the ground or in pots? Raised beds are reallly nice for growing plants of all types as you can control things like soil, fertilizer and watering very efficiently.

Local nurseries have nice varieties that will do ok here... the rest is up to you. Flowers like a lot of sun, have you a sunny place for them? Tell us more we'd be glad to help
